Discovery – Honey E.S.B

Discovery was beer number one that started it all back in early 1997. A decade later, this uniquely Yukon beer was brought back to highlight our tenth birthday and folks liked it so much we decided to keep it around. Using fireweed honey (fireweed is the territorial flower and just about everywhere up here), this beer has a bronze pour and a bitter honey finish.

Fireweed Honey is a different animal – it’s a bit sweet but also a bit tangy and bitter and its flavour shows in this one of a kind ale. We add the honey during the boil along with the hops, and it’s off to the races from there. Discovery, a Honey E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter to you!) like you’ve never tried.

  1. I picked up a 12 bottle case of the Yukon sampler thirst aid kit by fate. I work in northern alberta for a week at a time I am bussed from this location to nisku where my truck is parked and from there I drive an hour south to where I live. There is a town called beumont which I pass by on my way home and always stock up on groceries and beer for the week After getting groceries I stopped in at my liquor store of choice due to its location of conveinance. I picked up a case of big rock and was informed that their debit machine was out of order and I had no cash on me. So I thought to myself that I was gonna go for a drive through this town in which I have never really seen other than the one liqour store and grocery store on the outskirts of town. And so I did and stopped at the first liquour store I seen and happened to see the yukon sampler. I had heard of this beer before advertised on an Edmonton radio station but had never seen it stocked on a store shelf before. Long story short I bought the beer, tried all four, the red, honey, gold and the India pale ale and found them all to be an exellent beer. You could defiantly taste the quality and craftsmanship in the brews as well as the unique flavors. I always prefer a small scale and or micro brewed beer over the mega brands and I give Yukon Brewing two thumbs up, and will defianatly be stopping at the out of the way liquor store again for more product, and mabe someday even travel to whitehorse to sample some of your other brews
