Deadman Creek, Cranberry Wheat

This beer is different. Long before the big boys added lime flavours to their lagers we were making a wheat ale which combined natural cranberries with the tangy goodness of yeast, since the beer is unfiltered. We started as a seasonal beer, using only Yukon berries. Demand soon outstripped the supply, however, and we only supplement with local berries when they are available. Of course, we only use pure natural cranberries, with no artificial flavours.

You’re not going to be overwhelmed by the cranberries, they lurk in the shadows of this ale with their tart flavour complementing the yeast perfectly.  A  cloudy pour shouldn’t scare you off, as an unfiltered beer it’s supposed to look like that – just relax and enjoy (just make sure to keep a second close by).

  1. i lived at deadman creek as a kid!!

  2. Fell in love with this beer when i worked in Whitehorse 4 years ago :) Gotta find it again!!

  3. I’m not sure if I’ve set a record, but I have a 6-pack of this beer in my fridge that I kept as a souvenir from a road trip through your kingdom in 2004. It was my favorite beer on the trip because it had a picture of a grizzly on the label, and it tasted really good. It coveted it in my fridge for the first couple of years but didn’t want to drink it because then it would be gone. After that, I thought it would be bad to drink, but didn’t want to chuck it because of sentimental value. I finally yanked one out this evening. sip…hmm. Sip…Oh? SIP…YEEEAAAH BABY! And slammed the rest of that sweet nectar in joyreckless abandon. It’s still great, and I’m gonna save the rest until 2014.

  4. It’s a great Heer. I bought it in the “Yukon bay Resort” at the Hannoveranian Zoo in Germany. I enjoyed it, and will try a Yukon Gold afterwards. Happy easter everybody!
